you're at: how is terracotta made?

In an age of advanced technology, witnessing the transformation of what looked like normal soil into a hand crafted terracotta tile demonstrates the skill of the staff at one of our Spanish suppliers. We at tile & stove culture have had the privilege of witnessing these skills first hand in a visit to the factory. Below we have tried to outline for you, the main stages involved in producing a tile whos character will live on for centuries.

Stage 1
The finest "earth" is selected.
Stage 2
"Earth" mixed with mineral water to form clay.
Stage 3
Clay shaped into moulds by Master Craftsmen.
Stage 4
Tiles left to air before kiln.
Stage 5
Tiles kilned at 1200°C ready for export to you.
